Penland School of Crafts
The Penland School of Crafts is a non-profit center for craft education located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Founded in 1929, it offers workshops, residencies, and classes in a variety of craft media, including blacksmithing, book arts, ceramics, drawing, fibers, glass, iron, metals, painting, paper, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The school’s mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of contemporary craft through excellence in education and community engagement. The school’s campus includes a variety of facilities, including studios, classrooms, a library, and housing for students and artists in residence. Penland also hosts exhibitions, lectures and events throughout the year.
