Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts

The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is a fine arts school and museum located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1805, it is the first and oldest art school in the United States. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in fine arts, as well as continuing education classes and workshops. The academy’s museum houses a collection of American art that spans three centuries, including works by famous American artists such as Thomas Eakins, Mary Cassatt, and Violet Oakley. The school’s campus is also home to several galleries, including the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building which features contemporary art exhibitions. With its strong academic programs, distinguished faculty and impressive collection, PAFA is considered one of the most prestigious art schools in the United States.
